Orange Shovel Things
Monday, October 5

You know how when you were a kid, you had all these ambitions in mind? I want to build this, I want to make that, I want to be this, I want to be that - you know, the whole phase that all kids go through.

Well, I was the same, except I had a different job in mind. A construction worker. And yes, I know this might sound stupid and silly, but please hear me out. And please do take into consideration that we're talking about a five-and-a-half-year-old kid who knew basically nothing about the world except that the sky was blue (hypothetically speaking), and trees were green (and maybe a little more than that).

Anyway, it all came about when we were driving past a construction site. And all these orange shovel things (okay, so they're called digger shovels, but I bet none of us knew that till I googled it!) were moving here and there, collecting and dumping mud from one point to the other. And it just looked so cool at the time. Even the sound drew me in. I wanted to be the people that were inside them, controlling the buttons and devices. I secretly envied them more and more every time we passed by the construction sites. So while all the girls were talking about the newest Barbie doll in store, I plotted my plan to get me one of those construction shovel things.

And you don't want to know how that ended. It actually lasted for quite a while. But it was hard hiding it from everyone, and I did because even for a kid who knows nothing, I knew that no one would understand me. A few long months later, I wanted to be a mushroom, and out went my construction worker dream.

But that's a completely different story that I'm just not ready to share right now.
